British clothing industry prices continue to fall

According to the latest data, retail prices of clothing and footwear continued to fall in October as British retailers continued to increase their discounts and promotions. The deflation rate of British clothing and footwear also increased from 8.9% in September to 10.7%, and this figure reached the highest level since December 2006. The British Retail Consortium’s research report stated that in October, the retail price of clothing and footwear in the UK fell by 1.5% compared with the previous month, and the price drop was mainly due to the higher inflation rate of apparel products, especially women’s and children’s wear. At the same time, the deflation rate of footwear and men's clothing has also increased. Helen Dickinson, director general of the British Retailers Association, said that since the slow rise in September, the deflation rate in the United Kingdom in October, this is the highest level since the BRC had a price index record.
